What You Can Do To Help

What YOU Can Do To Help!

In the 2016/17 season the Japanese government issued a quota for 1,820 dolphins and whales to be killed or captured at Hatajiri Bay in Taiji. Sea Shepherd believes that the killing or capture of just a single dolphin is too many and we need your help to stop forever the atrocity that is the mass slaughters and captures of dolphins at Taiji.

With your help, Sea Shepherd and our Cove Guardians will continue to apply pressure both from within Japan and worldwide to end this unethical and cruel mass slaughter of several species of wild dolphins.

Please help us end this slaughter. Just one person can make a difference, but together we can win this campaign for our clients – the dolphins.

The following are just some of the ways you can help:

Volunteer

Consider applying to be a Cove Guardian and joining our team on the ground in Taiji. This position requires dedication, time, and resources. You must pay for your travel, lodging, food, and all other personal expenses. To ensure that all needed volunteer positions are filled throughout the hunt season, a minimum time commitment of one week is required.

If you would like to become a Cove Guardian - please complete our application form at: https://seashepherduk.wufoo.eu/forms/cove-guardians-application-form-201617/

Don’t buy a ticket!

The captive performing dolphin and ‘swim with dolphins’ industry profits are founded on the suffering and blood of tens of thousands of deaths at Taiji. The way to shut them down is to take the profit out of their operations.

Do not support any aquariums, marine parks or other facilities that hold dolphins and/or whales captive. Terminate your season passes and demand a refund. Encourage your friends and family to stay away from aquariums, dolphinariums, entertainment parks and other captive dolphin facilities and tell them why. Do not include captive dolphin facilities or hotels in your holiday packages. Contact those dolphin businesses and let them know how you feel about dolphins being kept in captivity. Educate others on the link between the captive dolphin industry and the Taiji dolphin slaughter. Do not participate in captive dolphin programs like “swim with the dolphins.”

Spread the Word

One of the most important things you can do is follow news from the Cove Guardians and Sea Shepherd on social media and SHARE with your friends and family. We need your help to reach as many people as possible who have not heard about the atrocities occurring in Taiji and we rely on all our supporters to share our updates and livestream videos from:

Cove Guardian Facebook
Sea Shepherd UK Facebook
Cove Guardian Twitter
Sea Shepherd UK Twitter

Contact Travel Companies and Travel Agents

Lots of travel companies and travel agents still feature attractions and even hotels which hold captive cetaceans. Please do some research locally to find out which companies in your country promote captive facilities and contact them to ask them to reconsider…and if they fail to respond positively or at all then let us know by email to: This email address is being protected from spambots. Shop to Show Your Support

Pick up some Cove Guardian campaign gear from our eBay store at: and wear it in solidarity with the Cove Guardians on the ground. Use your new outfit as an opportunity to engage people and tell them about the horrors of the Taiji drive hunts and the link to the captive dolphin industry.

Donate

Help us keep the Cove Guardians crew in Taiji by helping fund the campaign. Although Cove Guardians cover all their travel, accommodation and food costs themselves there are a lot of other costs associated with the campaign. Sea Shepherd UK covers the costs of car hire, equipment purchase, website pages, internet usage for the livestreams and updates and many other associated costs.
